What's coming up We are running the following courses during 2012 : Computer Awareness (This is the beginners introduction to computers. Where do we start? We have a brief "tour" of the hardware, and try to translate computer language into plain English. Then we really do start at the beginning, by showing how to switch on, navigate through programmes and, most importantly, how to switch off. The initial introductory course covers four x 2 hour sessions, over four weeks, and at the end the beginner will know how to open, use and close programmes, including C.D's and Pen Drives. The beginners course is included with the joining membership fee. He/she will know how to create, edit and insert graphics into a basic document. This is where it all starts and irrespective of how much everyone else appears to know,it is where they all started. It is a fun, stress free way to learn, at your pace and without pressure. ). Word processing 1 (This course is intended as a first introduction to Word Processing. Its basic purposes are used by practically all other computer programs e.g. e-mail, scanning and graphics, desktop publishing, genealogy, spreadsheets and data-base. It provides a base on which skills such as presentation, layout etc are learnt and it even automatically corrects your spelling mistakes. The course is offered with Microsoft or Open Office as an operating system). Spreadsheets (Learn how to set up a budget and run your home accounts - in MS Office 2003 or 2007). PowerPoint (Make presentations in MS Office 2003 or 2007) Digital Photography (Get the most out of your digital camera and holiday snaps) Email & Internet (Once you have completed the word processing course, we recommend that first, it then makes understanding email a lot more enjoyable).
